In this section we answer the most frequently asked questions our customers have when renting a vehicle
In some countries and cities in the United States, the customer, as well as additional drivers, must present the international driver´s license along with the driver´s license from the country of origin. In all rentals, even those in which prepayment has been made, a deposit or pre-authorization will be requested for the estimated rental charges, or not included in the selected plan. It is not a charge, it is a holdback and the amount or percentage will depend on the rental company. It will be released at the end of the rental period and the time it takes for the deposit to be returned to your account will depend on the bank
The amount or percentage may vary according to the season, rental office and type of vehicle and will be confirmed by the rental company at time of rental. At the end of the rental it will be released and the time it takes for it to be returned to your account will depend on the bank.
All documents presented, including the credit card, must be in the name of the customer; therefore, it is not possible to use a card or any other document in the name of a third party, including the additional driver.
Our rate plans allow you to choose the one that best suits your rental needs, which include insurance, additional services such as gasoline, satellite navigator, additional driver, among others. They will always be specified in the inclusions of each rate plan.
The insurance policies offered by each rental company are optional and none of them are mandatory. In the rate plans are included those that are considered as recommended for you to drive safely.
Most car rental companies include basic liability insurance, with rate plans that include an extension to this insurance.
We recommend that you select one of the rate plans that already include insurance at the time of booking, since the insurance rates may be higher if purchased at the beginning of the rental period.
For any situation or accident during your rental period, you should immediately contact the rental company or your emergency service to explain what happened and to indicate the procedure to be followed.
If the rate plan indicates that it includes PDW - Partial Protection for Damage to the vehicle or CDW - Partial Protection for Damage to the vehicle, in case of damage, loss or theft of the vehicle, an excess will have to be paid. The amount or percentage of the excess will vary depending on the country, rental location and type of vehicle.
If you are involved in a traffic accident, you should immediately contact the rental company or its emergency service to explain what happened and to receive instructions on the procedure to be followed.
In case of any mechanical or electronic failure with the rented vehicle, you must contact the rental office directly to request the corresponding service.
Infants and children are considered passengers and must have their own car seat or adapter, with the following options:
Our rate plans do not include this service. From AutoRenta's website you can request the baby/children's car seat subject to availability or at the rental location. In both cases, there will be an extra charge.
If it is possible to include more than one additional driver in your reservation. Any additional driver must be physically present at the beginning of the rental for registration and meet the same requirements to rent a vehicle as the owner of the reservation. Most AutoRenta rate plans include one additional driver, if you register an additional driver you will be charged an extra fee.
Only the reservation owner and additional drivers registered at the beginning of the rental may drive the rented vehicle. Any additional driver must be physically present at the beginning of the rental for registration and meet the same requirements to rent a vehicle as the reservation holder. Most AutoRenta rate plans include one additional driver, if an additional driver is registered there will be an extra charge.
It is important that the reservation is made well in advance to ensure that the required type of vehicle is available. Although the reservation can be made hours before the start of the rental, it will have to be made with the only types of vehicles available; otherwise, none will be available.
You can cancel your reservation from the "Search reservation" section and then from the "Cancel" option; or, in the e-mail sent to you with the reservation confirmation you can choose I WANT TO CANCEL THIS RESERVATION and then from the "Cancel" option.

To modify your reservation free of charge, it must be done directly by AutoRenta, so it is necessary to call: 954.237.4737 or by email: [email protected]. Any changes you need to make must be made 36 hours prior to the local rental start time.
Once the rental agreement has been signed and opened, it will not be possible to make any changes to the reservation.
AutoRenta does not apply any extra charge for the changes you need to make to your booking. However, please note that the rate may vary according to the requested changes and the extra charge will be charged by the advisor at the time of the process when the reservation has been previously paid.
The booking price includes all taxes and mandatory charges. Please note that some extra charges and taxes must be paid at destination, as well as the optional equipment required in your reservation.
There are three methods of payment for a booking made through AutoRenta´s web site:
In all cases the reservation holder must physically present a valid and current international credit card at least one year old in the name of the renter with the renter´s name printed or engraved on it.
You will receive by e-mail the confirmation voucher of the prepaid reservation (voucher) or if you are registered in AutoRenta´s website you can download it through your account. The voucher specifies the details of the reservation, confirming the contracted rental plan with the services that are included, as well as the availability of the vehicle within the selected category and the value of the rental. At the beginning of the rental you will be able to present a printed or electronic copy of the voucher.
Payment of the reservation must be made 48 hours prior to the local rental start time.
If you paid the reservation by credit card and you cancel the reservation up to 48 hours before the local rental start time, there will be no charge. Between 48 and 36 hours prior to the local rental start time there will be a charge of 20% of the total prepaid amount and you will receive a credit to the credit card used of 80% of the total prepaid amount and after 36 hours prior to the local rental start time there will be no credit or refund. If you paid the reservation by wire transfer (Travel Agencies and Corporate/Company) there will be no penalty or charge, a credit voucher will be issued for the total prepaid amount.
The credit voucher issued will be valid for 6 (six) months from the date of its generation and may be used to prepay future reservations of any of your clients, regardless of name, destination or value.
Please note that the value shown in the availability page of your quote (first step), is a basic value corresponding to the car rental. Once the booking is confirmed, the value may increase taking into account that it will be the total value to be paid including charges and taxes, plus any optional equipment required or charges for return to another office, as appropriate.
If you are a young driver (21 to 24 years old) the charge cannot be excluded. Also applies to additional drivers.
The electronic toll system is not included in any of our rates. This service may be purchased directly at the rental location. You will be informed of the cost of the service at the beginning of the rental, as well as the accreditation of the cost of each toll you will pass through and the method of payment.
As this is not a service included by AutoRenta, you will have to contact the rental company directly.
It will be possible to return the vehicle in a different office and/or city, as long as the AutoRenta website provides the option. This service may have an extra charge which will be shown at the time of making the reservation online and must be paid at the end of the rental plus the corresponding taxes. Optional equipment required will also have an extra charge plus taxes.
At the beginning of the rental, review your rental contract in detail and make sure that you have not accepted any insurance, equipment or additional services to those included in the rate plan selected at the time of booking. Anything that is not indicated will be charged at the end of the rental.
Delivering the vehicle after the reserved time will generate an extra charge. If you need to return the vehicle later, please contact the rental office directly to inform them when you will return the vehicle and have it considered in your rental contract.
If in your reservation you selected the rate plan that includes the gas tank, you may return the rented vehicle with an empty tank or the level you wish. If the rate plan selected does not include a tank of gas, you must return the vehicle with the same level of fuel that was delivered to you at the beginning of the rental, otherwise you will be charged for the missing fuel plus a service fee.
It is possible to rent a vehicle for more than 30 days; however, you must make a new reservation for the additional days and pay for it, if applicable. You will have to physically present yourself at the rental office to close the first contract and open the second one, and depending on the condition of the vehicle, another one will be assigned for the preventive maintenance of the first assigned vehicle.

All vehicles are for private use only and are not equipped for cargo. The vehicles must be driven on paved roads and highways, not on trails, paths or places of difficult access. Any restriction regarding the use of the vehicle will be clarified at the time of signing the rental contract.
Generally, leasing companies provide a courtesy shuttle service from the airport office to the parking lot where your reserved vehicle will be waiting for you.
